ArmInfo. In 2019, the Military Prosecutor's Office of Armenia revealed 154 corruption crimes in the Armed Forces of the country, for which 145 criminal cases were opened as a whole.
According to the press service of the Prosecutor General's Office, 63 criminal cases concerned exceeding official obligations by the head (commander), 29 - committing official forgery, 27 - embezzlement in various ways, 11 - receiving or giving a bribe, 8 - abuse of official duties, 3 - fraud committed using official position, 3 - exceeding official authority, 1 - using official position in order to steal weapons, ammunition, explosives or weapons. In general, according to the report of the RA Prosecutor General's Office, 296 criminal corruption cases were examined in various investigative structures of the department, 64 cases were sent to the court with regard to 102 people. The number of cases sent to court is 50% more than in the same period of 2018. Damage to the state in the framework of the criminal cases amounted to 786 million drams, of which 410 million drams were recovered.
The ministry also assured that significant work was done in the context of protecting the interests of the state in the Armed Forces. In particular, in this context, during 2019, 400 studies were conducted, during which 230 violations were identified.
175 warnings were issued on voluntary compensation for damage caused to the state by these violations in 2019. On the revealed violations 41 criminal cases were initiated. In general, the damage to the state in the framework of these studies was estimated at 12 billion drams, which is 6 times more than in 2018 (about 2 billion drams).
The total damage recovered as a result of applying exclusively prosecutorial measures amounted to 1.2 billion drams, which is almost twice as much as in the same period of 2018 (680 million drams). Measures are being taken to compensate about 10.2 billion drams of material damage caused to the state in the framework of criminal proceedings, "the Prosecutor General's Office said.
