ArmInfo.The National Assembly of Armenia at its plenary meeting on March 4 ratified the agreement "On the exchange of information within the CIS in the field of combating terrorism and other violent manifestations of extremism, as well as their financing." According to the Acting Director of the National Security Service of the Republic of Armenia Eduard Martirosyan, the agreement was signed on November 3, 2017 in Tashkent by the governments of Armenia, Belarus, Russia, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan and Uzbekistan.
The Prime Minister of Armenia signed an agreement with a reservation, according to which it enters into force after the ratification of the parliament. For signatories of other states, it has already entered into force. The purpose of the agreement is to ensure the exchange of information in the fight against terrorism and extremism and with other violent manifestations, as well as with their financing. Information will be exchanged through diplomatic channels, using the courier service or otherwise agreed by the competent authorities, as well as using information, including interstate communication systems. At the same time, there will be no exchange of information with Azerbaijan.
According to the acting Director of the NSS, in the field of combating terrorism and other violent manifestations of extremism, as well as with their financing by the interstate information system, is a specialized database of the CIS Anti-Terrorism Center, the legal regime of which is determined by the Council of Heads of Security Agencies and Special Services of the CIS Member States. Under the agreement, the parties will cooperate on the basis of requests from the competent authorities of the CIS.
