ArmInfo.The Court of Appeal of Armenia canceled the decision of the primary court of February 22 on replacing the arrest of the accused Karen Khachatryan with a bail of 20 million drams. This is stated in the message of the National Security Service of the Republic of Armenia received by ArmInfo.
According to the source, the NSS, based on the public interest in the investigative measures against the former head of the Ministry of Finance and the State Revenue Committee, Gagik Khachatryan and related parties, reports that the Court of Appeal found the decision of the primary court unacceptable. Karen Khachatryan is currently in custody. A preliminary investigation is ongoing.
To recall, the nephew of the former head of the SRC Gagik Khachatryan, Karen Khachatryan, was released on bail in the amount of 20 million drams by a court decision of February 22. The National Security Service of Armenia submitted a request to extend the arrest term of Khachatryan by two months, and Khachatryan's lawyer requested his release on bail. Karen Khachatryan served as the head of the Department of Internal Security of the SRC, he is accused of particularly large embezzlement. In the framework of the same criminal case, his uncle, the former chairman of the SRC, former finance minister Gagik Khachatryan, was charged.
