MP: There is a risk of penetration of coronavirus into Armenia, but  everything is done to prevent such a development of events

ArmInfo. There is a risk of coronavirus entry into Armenia, but everything is done to prevent the adverse developments. On February 25, Narek Zeynalyan, chairman of  the parliamentary commission on health and social issues, announced  this to reporters.

According to him, the country's authorities monitor the situation on  a daily basis, especially in neighboring Iran, where there are  already victims of coronavirus. The state border of Armenia with Iran  has been partially closed for two weeks. Two weeks, according to the  deputy, is that critical period of time during which the virus can be  expected to enter. Surveys at the border are truck drivers. "It is  one thing when it comes to 1-2 drivers, and quite another - about  tens of thousands that could take place if there was an open border,"  Zeynalyan emphasized. He also urged the country's citizens not to  panic. According to him, the pharmacy network is provided with the  necessary number of medical masks and other essentials. At the first  stage, there was some panic among the population, which began to  massively purchase medical masks.  "Now the situation has stabilized  somewhat, but we must understand that masks do not provide 100%  security for citizens," the deputy stated, noting that at the moment  there are no cases of penetration or detection of patients in  Armenia. "If such risks appear, the persons will be immediately  isolated and hospitalized," said Narek Zeynalyan. Earlier, the  Armenian Embassy in Iran, given the situation with the spread of  coronavirus, appealed to compatriots in Iran with an appeal to  contact the diplomatic mission and provide their details. As of  February 24, 35 people contacted the embassy. On February 23, the  consular department of the Armenian Embassy in Iran temporarily  stopped registering and receiving citizens. The Armenian Foreign  Ministry called on citizens of the republic not to visit Iran without  emergency.

Note that as of February 25, in the world, with the exception of  mainland China, the number of Covid-19 infected with the coronavirus  reached 2,438 thousand, having increased by 234 cases of the disease  per day, the Hong Kong newspaper South China Morning Post reported.  According to her, the number of coronavirus victims increased during  the day from 26 to 37 people: 12 people died in Iran, nine in South  Korea, seven - in Italy, four - in Japan, two - in Hong Kong, on one  case of a fatal outcome recorded in France, Taiwan and the  Philippines. Most patients - 893 - were identified in South Korea, in  Japan - 838, of which more than 630 were passengers and members of  the Diamond Princess quarantined crew in Yokohama. In Italy, there  are 229 patients, in Singapore - 90, in Hong Kong - 81, Iran - 47,  Thailand and the USA - 35 each, in Taiwan - 28, in Australia - 23, in  Malaysia - 22, Germany and Vietnam - 16 each, The United Arab  Emirates and the United Kingdom - 13 each, in France - 12, in Macau  and Canada - 10 each. Less than 10 cases of the disease were recorded  in the Philippines, India, Kuwait, Spain, Oman, Russia, Afghanistan,  Bahrain, Belgium, Cambodia, Egypt, Finland , Israel, Lebanon, Nepal,  Sri Lanka, Sweden.
