RPA: The case against Serzh Sargsyan has exclusively political  implications

ArmInfo. The Republican Party of Armenia issued a statement in connection with the trial starting today against the third President of Armenia Serzh Sargsyan.

The party's statement to ArmInfo said: "Today, a trial will start on  a fabricated criminal case, in which the head of the RPA, the third  president of Armenia, Serzh Sargsyan, is being charged.

The case against Sargsyan was opened on the basis of only one  testimony. During the investigation, the Special Investigative  Service carried out a number of illegal actions, moreover, the biased  attacks on Serzh Sargsyan by the state propaganda machine indicate  that the case is custom-made and has exclusively political  implication."

The statement emphasizes that the beginning of this trial is taking  place against the background of a weak policy of the current  government regarding the Artsakh process.

"Such actions by the authorities are aimed at distracting the  Armenian people from acute domestic and foreign political processes.  We express our support to the third President of the Republic of  Armenia Serzh Sargsyan. We urge the judicial authorities of the  Republic of Armenia to ensure a completely fair and legal trial. We  attract the attention of local and foreign Media to this case. If  necessary, we will take all legal measures to protect the rights,  freedom and dignity of Serzh Sargsyan, "the statement said.  It  should be noted that the third president of Armenia, Serzh Sargsyan,  is accused of organizing embezzlement on an especially large scale -  about 500 million drams.

We are talking about the state program approved in 2013 by the  Government on the more affordable acquisition of diesel fuel for the  implementation of spring agricultural work. According to the  investigation, exceeding official powers, Sargsyan facilitated the  purchase of diesel fuel from Flash Ltd at higher prices.  Serzh  Sargsyan was charged with clause 1 of part 3 of article 38-179 of the  RA Criminal Code, ex-Minister of Agriculture Sergo Karapetyan - under  clause 1 of part 3 of article 179 of the RA Criminal Code, head of  Flash Ltd Barsegh Beglaryan

- under clause 1 of part 3 of article 38-179 of the Criminal Code of  the RA, ex-deputy minister of agriculture of the Republic of Armenia  Samvel Galstyan and head of the crop production department of the  same ministry Gevork Harutyunyan - under clause 1 of part 3 of  article 38-179 of the Criminal Code of RA.
