ArmInfo. Chief of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Armenia Artak Davtyan does not intend to resign.
He stated this at a meeting with reporters on February 18.
Touching upon the fact that there has been sharply increase in the number of deaths in the army recently, Davtyan said that out of 13 servicemen, 4 died from illnesses, and four more died as a result of an accident. "I was at the funeral of these guys. Moreover, I regularly visit military units," the head of the General Staff assured.
It should be noted that a joint closed meeting of the Standing Committee on Protection of Human Rights and Public Affairs and the Standing Committee on Defense and Security, which was attended by Chief of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Armenia Artak Davtyan, took place in the parliament on February 18.
To recall, on February 14 it became known about the death of the 13th soldier who died in the Armenian army. Almost all of these deaths occurred under unclear circumstances. This fact is being vigorously debated in society, on social networks they demand the resignation of Minister of Defense David Tonoyan and Chief of the General Staff, Artak Davtyan. In connection with this situation, yesterday the Prime Minister of Armenia held a meeting with the heads of defense departments.
