ArmInfo. The Heritage Party issued a statement in which they expressed their views on the upcoming referendum on constitutional amendments.
According to the party's press service, the statement, in particular, states: "It is obvious that Armenia needs a new constitutional court, but the path to the Constitutional Court of our dreams cannot be built on either the existing falsified Constitution or its partial correction through a referendum. The result of activates of campaigns of both "Yes" and "No" will lead to a split in society and illegitimate results in a constitutional referendum on April 5. The Heritage Party is convinced that the authorities convene an effective way to resolve the situation.
An extraordinary meeting for the development of the first draft of a legal constitution in the history of the Republic of Armenia, after which a new referendum is necessary, as a result we will have the main state law, along with the relevant court, which will be in line with our national-state interests. Other approaches to this most important problem "Heritage"party considers manifestations of political expediency of the moment, dangerous rhetoric and short views, which can have nothing to do with progress in Armenia. Our country is not a testing ground for interpersonal conflicts. Not a single political force has the right to proclaim itself a judge, and to divide the citizens of Armenia and political forces into anti-state and devotees. April 5 is not an election date in the new Armenia. "
It should be noted that on February 6 the parliament decided on a referendum, at which the citizens of Armenia will decide whether they agree to amend the constitution of the country. On April 5, a constitutional referendum will be held in Armenia, at which the issue of judges of the constitutional court will be decided. Many deputies and human rights activists said that this decision is unconstitutional, since initially the deputies had to send their proposal to the Constitutional Court. According to the decision adopted on February 11 at the CEC meeting, the campaign will be held from February 17 to April 3.
