ArmInfo.Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan dispelled all doubts about the absence of Shaumyan region's occupation issue on the agenda of Armenia. MP from My Step parliamentary faction Tatevik Hayrapetyan expressed a similar opinion during parliamentary briefings, commenting on Berlin statements by Prime Minister Pashinyan.
"Earlier, doubts, concerns and even discontent regarding the silence of the Armenian leadership on the issue of occupation of the Shahumyan region were heard repeatedly. And, in my opinion, the Armenian Prime Minister put an end to this issue," the parliamentarian said.
According to Hayrapetyan's estimates, for the first time Armenia raised the issue of Azerbaijani occupation of Shaumyan in Berlin at the level of the head of state, an issue about which all Pashinyan's predecessors preferred to remain silent. Speaking at the discussions "Long-term partnership under new signs, Armenia-Germany relations" held on February 13 in Berlin, answering the question of the Azerbaijani participant in the event, the Armenian Prime Minister reminded the audience of the fact of the Azerbaijani occupation of Shaumyan region
"You know, there is a Shaumyan region, where thousands of Armenians lived, who today cannot return to their homes because Shaumyan was subjected to ethnic cleansing. And the current status quo is solely the result of the desire of the Armenians of Artsakh to protect their right to life," Pashinyan noted.
