ArmInfo. The trial in the caseof Second President of Armenia Robert Kocharyan and others has again been postponed. Judge Anna Danibekyan made the corresponding decision on February 11 in connection with the absence of lawyers from former Defense Minister Seyran Ohanyan - Karen Mezhlumyan and former Deputy Prime Minister Armen Gevorgyan - Erik Aleksanyan.
To recall, at a meeting on February 4, the actions of the lawyers of former President Robert Kocharyan and former Deputy Prime Minister Armen Gevorgyan, who had been absent from previous court hearings, were examined. Guided by Clause 1 of Part 1 of Article 314 of the Code of Criminal Procedure of the Republic of Armenia, the court decided to apply judicial sanction against them in the form of a reprimand. Previously, due to the aforementioned position of lawyers, court hearings were adjourned twice - on January 14 and January 21. The defense side explained its actions by the court's inappropriate attitude to the threats voiced by one of the victims, who had previously stated: <Respond with respect on March 1, otherwise you will find yourself:>. But the continuation could not be heard, since the defense side expressed its protest. Judge Anna Danibekyan promised to study the record of the court session, but subsequently stated that she did not find any threats to the lawyers in the record. -sh- It should be noted that Robert Kocharian was charged with overthrowing the Constitutional system in the framework of the events of March 1, 2008. Armen Gevorgyan is accused of aiding the overthrow of the Constitutional system, receiving bribes on an especially large scale and money laundering.
