ArmInfo.Armenian President Armen Sarkissian signed a decree according to which a referendum will be held in the country on April 5 this year to introduce amendments to the country's Constitution. This was reported on the official website of the head of state. The decree comes into force from the moment of its publication.
The document also notes that by setting or not setting a date for a referendum, the President of Armenia does not express an opinion or position on the content of constitutional amendments adopted and submitted to the referendum by the RA National Assembly, as well as in relation to the procedures for making this decision.
It should be noted that the National Assembly of Armenia decided to submit draft amendments to the Constitution to the referendum. 88 MPs voted for this decision, against - 15, not a single MP abstained. Prosperous Armenia faction did not vote.
