ArmInfo. The Russian government is preparing a bill to simplify citizenship, abolishing the clause on which to obtain a passport, you must abandon the existing one, Kommersant writes.
The bill will be sent to the State Duma after agreement with the presidential administration and may be adopted already in the spring session. In the working group on the implementation of the Concept of State Migration Policy, created in March 2019 on behalf of President Vladimir Putin to attract 5-10 million new citizens to Russia, they allowed the abolition of other standards - on the applicant's continuous residence in Russia for five years and on the need to confirm legality of livelihoods. The adopted Concept of State Policy in the Field of Migration Law until 2025 "prescribes opening Russia for all who want to live and work here." In 2019, Russia simplified the provision of citizenship to highly qualified specialists. The conditions were simplified for the citizens of Afghanistan, Iraq, Yemen and Syria born in the territory of the RSFSR (under the Soviet Union). In addition, the law on the application of the facilitated procedure at the discretion of the President of the Russian Federation entered into force. Most applications for obtaining Russian citizenship come from people from the countries of the former Soviet Union - Ukraine, Uzbekistan, Tajikistan, Kazakhstan, Azerbaijan, Armenia and Moldova.
