ArmInfo.Former Prime Minister of Armenia Hovik Abrahamyan's brother's Heinrikh Abrahamyan's case was registered in court. According to the DataLex judicial information system, the case will be examined by a judge of the court of general jurisdiction of Ararat and Vayots Dzor regions Grigor Hovhannisyan.
To recall, Heinrikh Abrahamyan was charged with illegal possession of weapons and ammunition. According to the investigation, he illegally, bypassing the restrictions stipulated by the RA Law "On Weapons", acquired more than a dozen different types of firearms and about three thousand factory cartridges.
He and Hambik Gevorgyan, by prior conspiracy, illegally transported and stored weapons and ammunition in the village of Mkhchyan, on the territory of the former mechanical repair plant, which actually belonged to Hovik Abrahamyan, but registered in the name of Hambik Gevorgyan. During a search conducted on August 6, 2018 by national security officials, weapons and ammunition were discovered and seized.
According to the National Security Service, during searches, in particular, three light machine guns, seven AK-74 assault rifles, two SVD sniper rifles, three rifles, two pistols and a large number of rounds of various calibers were found. Information on the storage of weapons and ammunition was received by the NSS as part of an investigation into the criminal investigation of the Special Investigation Service on the events of March 1, 2008. Both persons involved in the case have been charged under Part 2 of Article 235 of the RA Criminal Code (Illegal acquisition, sale, storage, transportation or carrying of weapons, ammunition, explosives or explosive devices committed by a group of persons in a preliminary conspiracy).
