ArmInfo. The bill submitted by Vahagn Hovakimyan was withdrawn for technical reasons, it is not connected with the meeting of Ararat Mirzoyan with the EU and OSCE ambassadors. MP from the My Step faction Vladimir Vardanyan said in an interview with reporters on February 6.
According to him, Hovakimyan withdraw his bills for technical revision. Vardanyan stated that most likely the draft on amendments to the Armenian Constitution will remain on the agenda. "I want to note that in this process there are no unconstitutional manifestations. After the revolution, the country's authorities all the time sought to act within the framework of the law and in accordance with the requirements of the Constitution," the MPemphasized.
He also noted that the dissolution of the 6th parliament took place solely because the National Assembly did not elect a prime minister twice in a row. "Therefore, in accordance with the Constitution, the parliament was dissolved. I do not consider it necessary to discuss the connection of this procedure with the events of October 2, 2018," the MP noted.
To note, on February 6, an extraordinary meeting of the parliament did not take place, as initiator of the meeting, Vahagn Hovakimyan withdraw his bills. The National Assembly was to discuss a bill amending the Constitution.
According to the press service of the Armenian parliament, amendments to the laws "On the referendum" and "On the Constitutional Court" were included in the agenda of the extraordinary meeting. Both documents were to be discussed in the first and second readings. In addition, the MPs in the first reading should have considered amendments to the RA Constitution.
It should be noted that, as amended by the first two documents, parliamentarians intend to exclude the possibility of participation in the constitutional reforms of President of the Constitutional Court of the Republic of Armenia Hrayr Tovmasyan.
