ArmInfo. Former head of the National Security Service of Armenia Arthur Vanetsyan intends to return to politics and create his own party. Vanetsyan said this on February 5 at a meeting with the editors of several publications.
At the same time, Vanetsyan did not name the names of those who would join the party, he said, he was negotiating with many people. "As for ideology, we will discuss it at the founding congress of the party," the former head of the NSS emphasized. Vanetsyan also said that the party will unite people who are dissatisfied with the current government, but who are not representatives of the previous government. He also noted that the party will be center-right. The former head of the NSS noted that from now on he periodically intends to hold meetings with media representatives. It should be noted that on September 16, 2019, Arthur Vanetsyan dismissed from the post of head of the NSS of Armenia. After his resignation, he issued a statement in which he stated that "spontaneous decisions, sweeping actions, and the absence of differences between the primary and secondary are not the path that leads to the achievement of goals." After his resignation, the former head of the NSS several times noted that there are a number of factors threatening the country's security.
In his turn, Prime Minister of Armenia Nikol Pashinyan criticized this statement of Vyaanetsyan. During the press conference, Pashinyan, in particular, stated that the words of the former head of the NSS violate the officer's code, since he, being the former director of the NSS, makes a statement, in fact, against his Supreme Commander, and a more disrespectful attitude to the honor of the officer it can not be. The prime minister compared the behavior of Vanetsyan with the actions of the coup in August 1991. Pashinyan also noted that this action can be qualified as throwing epaulettes in the trash.
