ArmInfo.Armenia highly appreciates the effective steps taken by China in the fight against coronavirus, and expresses the hope that the situation will be resolved soon. This was stated by Deputy Prime Minister Tigran Avinyan during a meeting with the Chinese Ambassador to Armenia Tian Erlun.
According to the press service of the RA government, during the meeting, the Chinese ambassador presented the latest data and the general situation with the spread of the virus, noting that although it is complex, it is controllable and stable. The Chinese side expects improvement in the next week. Tian Erlun noted that this issue is under the direct control of China's top leadership, and there is great cohesion in the fight against coronavirus. Significant human and material resources are directed to the fight against the virus. The country is also actively collaborating with international partners, and work is underway to create a vaccine.
The Vice Prime Minister thanked for the comprehensive information provided. He presented the work done by Armenia to prevent the entry of coronavirus, noting that an interdepartmental commission is working in this direction. Tigran Avinyan also pointed out the importance of the promptness, transparency and efforts of the Chinese side in cooperation with the international community. Vice Prime Minister added that Armenia is ready to support friendly China in every possible way.

At the same time, on the eve of the first fatal case of infection was registered outside the PRC - in the Philippines, where a 44-year-old resident of Wuhan died. On December 31, 2019, Chinese authorities informed the World Health Organization about an outbreak of unknown pneumonia in Wuhan in the central part of the country. Experts have identified the causative agent of the disease - coronavirus 2019-nCoV. The number of people infected with coronavirus in China exceeded 17.2 thousand people. Nearly 150 people fell ill outside of China, one of them died. WHO recognized the outbreak as an emergency of international concern.
