ArmInfo.The new composition of the Russian cabinet plans to continue constructive relations with colleagues from Armenia. Head of the Government of the Russian Federation Mikhail Mishustin said during a meeting with Prime Minister of Armenia Nikol Pashinyan in Almaty.
At the same time, he expressed satisfaction with the level of development of trade relations and called for looking for new areas for cooperation.
Mishustin also emphasized the importance of Russian-Armenian partnership and allied relations, noting that the countries work together in the fields of energy, transport, industry, as well as in the cultural and humanitarian sectors. "The new composition of the government is set to continue our constructive relations and working contacts with our Armenian colleagues, including within the framework of the intergovernmental commission headed by the Minister of Transport Yevgeny Dietrich," Mishustin said, TASS reports.
He noted that Russia is Armenia's leading foreign economic partner with a share in foreign trade of more than 26%, about 2.2 thousand Russian enterprises operate in the republic, and a third of all joint ventures are enterprises with Russian participation, he said. "In 2018, our bilateral trade increased by 11% - up to about $ 2 billion. The growth continued last year: in January-November by 17.6%," the Russian prime minister quoted the data as saying.
"I want to say that this is good, we need to consolidate this positive trend, look for new areas for cooperation. I hope we will discuss all our bilateral issues today," Mishustin added. The Chairman of the Government of the Russian Federation also thanked Pashinyan for congratulations on his appointment as head of the Cabinet. Mishustin said that he recalls with warmth his recent trip to Yerevan, where the World Forum on Information Technologies was held; he noted that the event was brilliantly organized.
