ArmInfo.Armenia expresses support for the main integration directions of the Belarusian Chairmanship in the EAEU. Prime Minister of Armenia Nikol Pashinyan, expressing gratitude to the Kazakh side for the proper organization of the event and traditional hospitality, announced this on January 31 at a meeting of the heads of government of the countries of the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU) in Almaty.
Assuring the audience that they were ready for active and fruitful cooperation, the Prime Minister of Armenia recalled that this was the first meeting of the structure chaired by the Republic of Belarus. "We support the main integration directions, recorded by Belarus for the period of its chairmanship. In this regard, I would like to emphasize the importance of eliminating the remaining barriers, exemptions and restrictions that impede the formation of a common economic space," the Armenian Prime Minister said, while also pointing out the need to intensify efforts aimed at the formation of common energy and transport markets in the EAEU, ensuring non-discriminatory approaches in the field of pricing, tariffs and access to services of natural monopolies.
At the same time, according to Pashinyan, another area that should be the focus of the structure's attention is the need to improve the efficiency of the union's bodies and the development of transport and logistics infrastructure. "Today, the issue of progress on removing barriers within the framework of the functioning of the domestic market was once again considered. We made decisions on some of these obstacles today, however, as I have already noted, we consider it necessary to consolidate efforts aimed at eliminating the existing obstacles and creating conditions that exclude the possibility of their repetition, "said the head of the Armenian government.
Touching upon the EAEU development strategy until 2025, Pashinyan pointed out the importance of final approval of this document on the basis of established forms of cooperation enshrined in the Treaty on the Eurasian Economic Union.
Recalling the active participation of Armenia and supporting its implementation of the EAEU digital agenda, the Armenian Prime Minister noted the importance of creating an ecosystem of digital transport corridors, which he believes will make it possible to reduce the distance between the consumer, goods and services, as well as the manufacturer and seller. "It will significantly reduce delivery time, as well as time to search for optimal ways and methods of moving goods, making the market more perfect in this regard," the head of the Armenian government said.
Touching upon the expiration of the term of office of the Chairman of the Eurasian Economic Commission Tigran Sargsyan on February 1, Pashinyan expressed gratitude to the latter for his activity, and also wished success to the new head of the EEC Mikhail Myasnikovich and the Belarusian chairmanship. In conclusion, he stated that Armenia was ready to host one of the subsequent meetings of the Eurasian Intergovernmental Council.
