The strengthening of the capabilities of both the Russian 102nd Military Base deployed on the territory of Armenia and the equipment of the national forces of the Republic of Armenia is probably not accidental and pursues the common goal of strengthening the security of the borders of all CSTO countries in the Caucasus collective security region.
This was announced on January 30 during the Yerevan-Moscow-Minsk-Bishkek video bridge by chief of the Joint Staff of the Collective Security Treaty Organization, Colonel General Anatoly Sidorov, referring to the aggravation of the situation in the region after the assassination of General Qasem Soleimani, commander of the Al-Quds special forces.
At the same time, Sidorov noted that this year, as part of the planned exercises, a number of events will be held in the Caucasus region. "I would say that the predominant part of the exercises will be held this year in the Caucasus region of collective security. So, don't worry, the region will not go unnoticed," Sidorov stated, assuring us that consistent work is being carried out to date the strengthening of the national armies of all CSTO member countries, which is also due to global processes.
Sidorov also touched on the results of joint training of command and control bodies and the formation of forces and means of the Collective Security Treaty Organization of the Collective Security Treaty Organization in 2019 and spoke about the tasks for 2020.
