ArmInfo. Co-chaired by Vice-Speaker of the National Assembly Alen Simonyan and Ambassador of Armenia to the Kingdom of the Netherlands Tigran Balayan, the first meeting of the Armenian side of the Friendship Circle Armenia-Netherlands took place on January 24.
According to the press service of the parliament, Simonyan recalled that the Friendship Circle was formed in October 2019 during the official visit of the President of the National Assembly Ararat Mirzoyan to the Kingdom of the Netherlands. The goal is to help deepen the political, economic, educational and cultural ties between the two states. Stressing the importance of this cooperation platform, the NA Vice Speaker said that in April this year, the Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan is scheduled to visit the Kingdom of the Netherlands.
According to Simonyan, the opening of the embassy of the Kingdom of the Netherlands in Armenia would contribute to the implementation of various programs in the country. In this context, he highlighted the implementation of various joint plans in the fields of culture and film production.
The meeting participants exchanged views on possible vectors of bilateral cooperation. MP Naira Zohrabyan, in particular, emphasized the importance of adopting the Law on Cinema and ratification of the media component of the Creative Europe program by Armenia, and informed about other important joint initiatives with the Netherlands.
The meeting also noted the need for the development of bilateral cooperation in the agricultural sector, cultural events and the exchange of information.
Ambassador Balayan called on the members of the Armenian side of the circle of friendship to develop and present initiatives to implement joint programs between the two countries.
