ArmInfo. The pogroms of the Armenian population in Baku was another manifestation of the genocidal policies of Turkey and Azerbaijan in relation to the Armenian people. This was announced on January 21 from the rostrum of the parliament by the lawmaker from the My Step faction Shirak Torosyan. According to him, conclusions should be drawn from these lessons of history.
"The goal of Turkey, since the 19th century, is to embody the idea of pan-Turkism. Armenia is their main obstacle in this way, therefore, the Turks will not stop their aggressive policy towards the Armenian people and our statehood.
Therefore, we must convey to our colleagues, at regional and international platforms, this goal of Turkey, and urge them to unite against the idea of pan-Turkism. We must remember and raise the issue related to the 1915 Armenian Genocide. Because it's precisely the memory of our tragic past that will help us succeed in the future, " the lawmaker noted.
Torosyan also said that as a result of this policy of Azerbaijan, the Armenian population was expelled from Nakhichevan. "We must live in our historical territories. As a result of genocide and ethnic cleansing, the Armenians almost completely left the territories under their control in Turkey and Azerbaijan. This means that we lost, but as a result of the liberation struggle of Artsakh we started to win. We have the right to return our historical territories. When we are a single force, we can fulfill all our dreams, "Torosyan emphasized. It should be noted that exactly 30 years ago the Armenian pogroms in Baku began. Hundreds of inhabitants of Azerbaijani capital were killed just because they were Armenians. Thousands of people fled.
