ArmInfo. Armenian Minister of Justice Rustam Badasyan proposed in February to create a working group that will deal with the possibility of introducing constitutional amendments. This was announced on January 15 in an interview with reporters by head of the My Step faction, Lilit Makunts.
Makunts also noted that this initiative will also be aimed at implementing constitutional amendments.
It should be noted that the Ministry of Justice announced that applications are being accepted for those wishing to become candidates in the professional commission, which will deal with the issue of constitutional amendments. The statement notes that on December 30, 2019, the Prime Minister decided to start the process of creating a commission that will deal with the issue of constitutional amendments. The commission should have 15 members, it will include Minister of Justice Rustam Badasyan, Ombudsman of Armenia Arman Tatoyan, representative of Armenia to the European Court of Human Rights, the Council of Judges should nominate 1 candidate. The commission should also include 6 lawyers, who are scientists, 2 representatives of public organizations, and one representative from 3 parliamentary factions. The head of the Bright Armenia faction Edmon Marukyan has already noted that his faction will certainly take part in the process of constitutional changes.
