ArmInfo.Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan sent a congratulatory message to Spanish Prime Minister Pedro Sanchez on his re-election to this post.
The message, in particular, reads: "I congratulate you on your re-election as head of the government of the Kingdom of Spain and wish you every success in your responsible mission. Armenia attaches great importance to the regular development and expansion of friendly relations with Spain for the benefit of our peoples. I appreciate the role of Spain in strengthening relations between Armenia and the European Union and I hope that in the future this role will be marked by new achievements".
To note, the leader of the Spanish socialists Pedro Sanchez, appointed yesterday as the chairman of the government by the Congress of Deputies, today took the oath. The oath was taken to the head of state, King Felipe VI. After the ceremony, Sanchez and Felipe VI exchanged jokes. "Eight months for 10 seconds," said the prime minister. "It was quick, simple, and not painful," the head of state answered him. "The pain will come later," he added after a pause.
On Tuesday, the congress of deputies during the second round of voting with the smallest margin approved Sanchez as the country's prime minister. 167 deputies voted in favor, 165 against, 18 abstained.
The election of the chairman of the government will put an end to the protracted political crisis in the country, where early elections were held twice over the past year, and the government has been in the status of acting since the end of April.
