ArmInfo. In the framework of the criminal case under investigation, law enforcement officers revealed corruption by the head of the community of Aragatsavan (Aragatsotn region).
According to the press service of the General Prosecutor's Office, it turned out that in 2018, 50 thousand drams were allocated to 86 residents of the community under the guise of social assistance, which totaled 5.5 million drams. Further, these amounts, in order to ensure high rates of tax collection, were collected in the community budget under the guise of fulfilling tax obligations by residents of the community.
A criminal case has been instituted in part 2 of Article 308 of the RA Criminal Code; in respect of the head of the community, a preventive measure in the form of a recognizance not to leave the house was chosen. Given the fact that similar schemes can be applied in other communities of the republic, RA Prosecutor General Arthur Davtyan appealed to the Minister of Territorial Administration and Infrastructures Suren Papikyan with a request to take measures to prevent and exclude such cases within the authority of the Ministry. In addition, Davtyan was instructed to pay special attention to the investigation of the possible use of such schemes in the framework of prosecutorial supervision of corruption criminal cases involving local authorities.
