ArmInfo.Extraordinary parliamentary elections in Armenia can be held only as a result of the emergence of geopolitical force majeure, or the desire of Nikol Pashinyan himself. A similar opinion was expressed to ArmInfo by the leader of the "Republic" party Aram Sargsyan. Commenting on the recent statements by Republicans and supporters of Robert Kocharyan about the need for early elections, the politician said that, in principle, this is primarily based on the interests of the current government.
"I am convinced that, based on the results of such elections, "My Step" will regain the majority in the parliament, and Pashinyan will be the prime minister. The only difference is that the new parliament and government will be more professional. In this light, I do not exclude the possibility that in the last year of his premiership Pashinyan will go to early elections. However, only after returning to the semi-presidential system of government as a result of the reform of the Constitution, "Sargsyan forecasts.
According to his estimates, despite his own shortcomings, "My Step" continues to enjoy the trust of society, who in turn is confident in the correctness of their own choice, which is a very good result from the point of view of the general internal environment in the country. While if the society has opposite point of view, according to Sargsyan, it will lead to disastrous consequences. Namely, the return of a long-lasting situation, when the citizens of Armenia considered changes impossible, and all politicians equally bad.
"People in power have changed in Armenia, but not the government systems. Serzh Sargsyan was replaced by Nikol Pashinyan - a man with new approaches and ideas, however, working within the same system, management mechanisms as Sargsyan. Thus, using old mechanisms, the current authorities are likened to their predecessors. It is against this we must fight. It is against this phenomenon that our criticism of the authorities should be directed, "the politician summed up.
