ArmInfo. The settlement of the Karabakh conflict will be resolved within the framework of the OSCE Minsk Group and the negotiation process, there will be no other fundamental decisions. This was stated by Tigran Karapetyan, member of the Standing Committee on Defense and Security, MP from the ruling bloc "My Step", answering ArmInfo's question about the existing opportunities for reaching a compromise on the Karabakh conflict presented in a recent report by the International Crisis Group (ICG).
To recall, the authors of the article believe that without negotiations on three key issues - the future of the areas adjacent to Nagorno-Karabakh and the people currently living there, the prospects for international peacekeeping and the status of Nagorno-Karabakh - it will be impossible to achieve progress.
"The Republic of Armenia has its own position on this issue. This has been said for 1.5 years. There will be no other fundamental decisions for us, because there is a defined vector, there is a certain negotiation process, work is underway at the level of the Foreign Ministry and the Committee on Defense and Security," the MP said.
According to him, positions have already been declared on the Karabakh issue. and those decisions which will not correspond to the interests of the peoples of Armenia and Artsakh will not be considered. "Any recommendation papers, statements are certainly useful, we take note of them and nothing more. Reports of this kind, studies, documents indicate that there is interest in the Karabakh issue being resolved, but there is a format for the OSCE Minsk Group and within the framework of this group the issue will be resolved and negotiations will continue within the framework of these agreements, "the MP said.
Karapetyan is confident that the negotiation process on the Karabakh settlement is not in deadlock, despite the fact that the parties to the conflict insist on their interests. "There is a process, meetings are taking place periodically, and there is no deadlock," he said, noting that the Karabakh issue has no military solution, both the co-chairs and Yerevan declare this, and Baku agrees with this.
Karapetyan assured that Artsakh will never be part of Azerbaijan: "Independence of Artsakh is the red line that cannot be crossed, this is a fundamental moment for the Armenian republics".
<On all other issues, you can negotiate, there are many nuances, aspects, and all this is being discussed. However, the people of Artsakh have already determined their fate, but the April events of 2016 again show that Azerbaijan is not ready to live peacefully with the Artsakh people>, the parliamentarian said, recalling the atrocities of Azerbaijanis during the April war, noting that cadres of atrocities appeared in the press the killings are just part of the cruelty that Azerbaijanis displayed in those days.
