ArmInfo. Yerevan Mayor's press secretary Hakob Karapetyan commented on the decision of the Corruption Prevention Commission to institute proceedings against Yerevan Mayor Hayk Marutyan.
As the Commission previously reported, in accordance with the Law on Public Service, a person holding a public position, in particular, does not have the right to simultaneously hold positions in commercial organizations and engage in entrepreneurial activity. Meanwhile, according to the media publication, Marutyan, in parallel with his work as head of the Municipality, also headed the Ltd.
Hakob Karapetyan on his Facebook page noted that Hayk Marutyan ceased to be the director of the aforementioned Ltd on October 10, 2018, that is, 3 days before the mayor took office. As evidence, he also published relevant documents confirming this fact. It was noted that these documents were also posted on the official website of the State Register. In addition, Karapetyan said that on December 5, the Municipality contacted the editors of the newspaper that published this news, demanding a refutation. With this in mind, the Municipality sent to the Commission all the necessary documents to make a conclusion on the absence of grounds for violating the requirements of the law on the incompatibility of the post of Marutyan with other activities.
