ArmInfo. Armenian President Armen Sarkissian, responding to the presentation of the country's Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan, on December 23 signed a decree to posthumously award legendary Soviet intelligence office Gohar Vardanyan, with the Order of Honor.
To recall, Gohar Vardanyan died on November 25 of this year. She is buried at the Troekurovsky cemetery in Moscow next to her husband, the hero of the Soviet Union, intelligence officer Gevorg Vardanyan.
The intelligence activities of Gevorg and Gohar Vardanyans continued in dozens of countries around the world on different continents for about 45 years and remain largely classified. The operation carried out by a group of 19-year-old Vardanyan in 1943 to disrupt the assassination attempt of Hitler's agents on the "Big Three" - Stalin, Churchill and Roosevelt during the Tehran Conference of the Allies is widely covered.
