ArmInfo. The supporter of the former President of Armenia Robert Kocharyan, Varujan Mkrtchyan, who offered the witness in a criminal case on the events of March 1, 2008, to refuse to give his testimony for money, was detained. This information is confirmed by the RA General Prosecutor.
Mkrtchyan was detained on suspicion of committing an act as provided for in paragraph 1 of part 4 of Article 340 of the RA Criminal Code (bribery or coercion to give false evidence by an organized group). A criminal case was opened under this article.
As previously reported, Varujan Mkrtchyan invited one of the victims of the events of March 1, 2008 to his office in Kanaker, and promised him money and a high position for refusing to testify. The corresponding video material was then published by the RA Police.
The day before, in a conversation with reporters, Robert Kocharian's son, Levon Kocharian, did not exclude the possibility that the incident was rigged.
Robert Kocharian is being accused in the March 1, 2008 case.
