ArmInfo. Education should become the main engine of development of Armenia. This was announced on December 20 by the chairman of the National Assembly of the Republic of Armenia Ararat Mirzoyan at the parliamentary hearings on reforms in the education system and the development of a development strategy for the field.
According to him, the development of education will provide an opportunity not only to keep up with global processes, but even to be a step ahead in the future. The speaker emphasized that when it comes to the reform of the education system, first of all, it is necessary to identify the existing problems and challenges, eradicate accumulated orders for years, and, moving forward, be guided by the principles without which reforms are impossible. First of all, the education system should not serve party and power interests, serving these interests, free thought should not be suppressed in it, any manifestations of corruption are excluded. Students and teachers must constantly improve their knowledge, methodology in order to meet modern requirements, it is also necessary to review the knowledge that is transferred to the beneficiaries so that they are competitive in the market not only today, but also in 5-10 years.
As the speaker noted, it is no coincidence that the development of the field of information technology and the natural sciences is one of the priorities of the country's authorities, since they require the availability of qualified personnel in various areas of life. At the same time, it is important to form critical thinking and national values among students, which include elements of freedom, equality, human rights and democracy. The promotion of one of these elements should not impede the development of others. "To study, study, and study again, since it is education that is the powerful weapon that can change the world," the head of the Armenian parliament concluded.
It should be noted that on December 20, hearings on reforms in the education system are held at the RA National Assembly.
