ArmInfo. The National Assembly of Armenia at an extraordinary meeting on December 13 in the second and final reading amended the law "On Police".
As the deputy head of the RA Police Tigran Yesayan noted in his speech, there were no new proposals from the deputies for the second reading. The bill, as the deputy head of the RA Police recalled, provides for the right to use the technical recording devices and CCTV cameras during interrogations of persons suspected of committing crimes. The proposed amendments aim to exclude torture. Recording devices and CCTV cameras will be installed in front of the entrance to the Police building, police stations and offices in which investigative measures are carried out, including interrogations and operational requests.
The document establishes the periods of storage of these records, the procedure and cases of their transfer to third parties. The Deputy Chief of Police also said that the installation of the devices will be carried out within three years after the law comes into force. In addition, the document also stipulates the conditions for the use of these devices by patrol officers providing public order. In this case, without fail suspected persons are warned about the use of video cameras.
