ArmInfo.A special body will be created in the Prosecutor General's Office of Armenia, which will deal with the search and identification of property acquired illegally. This was announced at a government meeting by Justice Minister Rustam Badasyan. The procedure will affect those who held positions and worked in the state apparatus.
According to him, in order to implement the procedure for confiscating property acquired by illegal means, there must be several preconditions: the existence of a court conviction and documentary data on the property; criminal proceedings and indictment; evidence that the property was acquired illegally, but there are no grounds for criminal prosecution; the existence of grounds for suspicion of unlawfulness of property, but the case is dismissed; availability of operational data on sources of acquisition of property. The procedure is applicable in connection with the requests of the investigating authorities from abroad. Moreover, the Prosecutor General's Office will check incomes starting in 1991. If the value of the property will exceed the actually received income by 25 or more millions of drams, the Prosecutor General has the right to begin the verification procedure.
