Arayik Harutyunyan urged to adhere to presumption of innocence  regarding in detention of his deputy

ArmInfo. RA Minister of Education, Science, Culture and Sports Arayik Harutyunyan called for adhere presumption of innocence in terms of discussing the detention  of his deputy on suspicion of corruption.

On December 5, in a conversation with reporters, the minister refused  to provide details of the case, referring to the progress of  investigative measures. "We should confine ourselves to a statement  by the NSS on this fact, because, firstly, only one day has passed  since the information was disseminated, and secondly, the principle  of the presumption of innocence must be adhered to," he said.   Meanwhile, Harutyunyan emphasized that the position of the current  authorities remains unchanged, and any official who violates the law  should be held accountable regardless of the position held. As the  minister noted, those involved in corruption will be prosecuted under  the law, and in this matter there is an equal sign between  representatives of the former and current authorities. On December 4 of the current year, on the suspicion of receiving a  bribe on an especially large scale, the Deputy Minister of Education,  Science, Culture and Sports of the Republic of Armenia Gevorg  Loretsyan, his driver, as well as the head of one of the football  clubs operating in the Republic of Armenia, who is also the actual  leader of a number of supplier companies were detained.  A criminal  case has been instituted; Gevorg Loretsyan is detained.
