ArmInfo. RA Minister of Education, Science, Culture and Sports Arayik Harutyunyan called for adhere presumption of innocence in terms of discussing the detention of his deputy on suspicion of corruption.
On December 5, in a conversation with reporters, the minister refused to provide details of the case, referring to the progress of investigative measures. "We should confine ourselves to a statement by the NSS on this fact, because, firstly, only one day has passed since the information was disseminated, and secondly, the principle of the presumption of innocence must be adhered to," he said. Meanwhile, Harutyunyan emphasized that the position of the current authorities remains unchanged, and any official who violates the law should be held accountable regardless of the position held. As the minister noted, those involved in corruption will be prosecuted under the law, and in this matter there is an equal sign between representatives of the former and current authorities. On December 4 of the current year, on the suspicion of receiving a bribe on an especially large scale, the Deputy Minister of Education, Science, Culture and Sports of the Republic of Armenia Gevorg Loretsyan, his driver, as well as the head of one of the football clubs operating in the Republic of Armenia, who is also the actual leader of a number of supplier companies were detained. A criminal case has been instituted; Gevorg Loretsyan is detained.
