Zaruhi Batoyan: Implementation of the provisions of UN Security  Council Resolution 1325 is considered as a national mechanism for the  protection and promotion of women`s rights

ArmInfo. The implementation of the provisions of UN Security Council Resolution No. 1325 is considered as a national mechanism for the protection and promotion of women's  rights in all areas covering the country's public life. Minister of  Labor and Social Affairs of Armenia Zaruhi Batoyan announced this  during the conference on the topic "The Role of Women in  Peacekeeping".

It should be noted that the Government of the Republic of Armenia  approved the national action program for implementing the provisions  of the resolution for 2019-2021 and the schedule for implementing the  program on February 28, 2019.

According to Batoyan, the government's action program to implement  the provisions of resolution N1325 provides an opportunity to  increase public awareness, make it more efficient to distribute and  consolidate the responsibilities of the authorities responsible for  implementing the resolution, emphasizing that, among other  departments, the Ministry of Labor and Social Affairs is also  committed take the necessary steps in this direction. <All unresolved  conflicts affect women, leading to extreme poverty, hampering the  realization of women's rights to security, health care, and  education. The most vulnerable to conflicts are women with  disabilities and older people, therefore today, more than ever,  cooperation and decentralized work of state bodies, local and  international women's public organizations in conflict prevention,  peace building and settlement is necessary, "Batoyan noted in her  speech.

According to the minister, it is important not only to ensure the  involvement of women in the economic, social, educational spheres,  but also to ensure their participation in the processes of policy  development and decision-making in the defense system.
