The implementation of the provisions of UN Security Council Resolution No. 1325 is considered as a national mechanism for the protection and promotion of women's rights in all areas covering the country's public life. Minister of Labor and Social Affairs of Armenia Zaruhi Batoyan announced this during the conference on the topic "The Role of Women in Peacekeeping".
It should be noted that the Government of the Republic of Armenia approved the national action program for implementing the provisions of the resolution for 2019-2021 and the schedule for implementing the program on February 28, 2019.
According to Batoyan, the government's action program to implement the provisions of resolution N1325 provides an opportunity to increase public awareness, make it more efficient to distribute and consolidate the responsibilities of the authorities responsible for implementing the resolution, emphasizing that, among other departments, the Ministry of Labor and Social Affairs is also committed take the necessary steps in this direction. <All unresolved conflicts affect women, leading to extreme poverty, hampering the realization of women's rights to security, health care, and education. The most vulnerable to conflicts are women with disabilities and older people, therefore today, more than ever, cooperation and decentralized work of state bodies, local and international women's public organizations in conflict prevention, peace building and settlement is necessary, "Batoyan noted in her speech.
According to the minister, it is important not only to ensure the involvement of women in the economic, social, educational spheres, but also to ensure their participation in the processes of policy development and decision-making in the defense system.
