ArmInfo. Armenian Ombudsman Arman Tatoyan received a delegation led by Anna Rourka, Chairperson of the Conference of International Non-Governmental Organizations of the Council of Europe.
According to the press service of the Ombudsman's office, the Human Rights Defender noted the importance of the structure led by Rourke in the development of civil society in the Council of Europe. During the meeting, the Ombudsman touched upon the state of human rights in Armenia, the activities of his office and areas of work, cooperation with both state and local self-government bodies, as well as with public organizations and civil society.
The Ombudsman noted the importance of the role of civil society in presenting proposals in the field of human rights, protecting human rights and promoting democracy in the country.
In turn, the President of the Conference of International Non-Governmental Organizations of the Council of Europe emphasized the importance of effective cooperation between the Human Rights Defender and civil society in terms of enhancing its role and developing opportunities.
During the meeting, the parties reached new cooperation agreements.
