ArmInfo. For 11 months of 2019, an unprecedented amount of damage was restored in criminal cases under investigation by the Special Investigation Service (SIS) - 4 billion 331 million 935 thousand drams. This was stated by the head of the SIS Sasun Khachatryan on November 29 at the solemn meeting on the occasion of the Day of the SIS employee and the 12th anniversary of the formation of the Service.
According to him, the matter concerns only the amount returned to the state budget in cash. "An arrest was imposed in the amount several fold exceeding this figure, on legal movable and immovable property actually owned by the accused, as well as their assets, which are the subject of a crime, they will be taken into custody by judicial acts. For objective reasons, I can not indicate the exact volume of these assets, since, based on the characteristics of the criminal case, not in all cases forensic expert examinations are appointed, "Khachatryan said. At the same time, as the head of the SIS pointed out, in the criminal cases investigated by the Service during 2008-2018, the damage in the amount of 597 million 698 thousand drams was restored. "That is, the amount recovered to the budget this year alone was 7-fold more than the figure for the previous 11 years," he stressed.
During the reporting period, according to the head of the SIS, investigators in the Service were investigating 656 criminal cases, of which 536 were resolved, 71 criminal cases with a bill of indictment against 115 people were sent to court.
Sasun Khachatryan recalled that last year it was in this room at the gala dedicated to the Day of Special Investigation Service that he expressed confidence that honest and purposeful work cannot but give results, "since the law on energy conservation is valid in this case as well." "One of the important indicators of the effectiveness of criminal investigations is the restoration of material damage caused by a crime," said the head of the SIS.
