The RA Special Investigation Service refused to institute criminal proceedings against the lawmaker from Prosperous Armenia Party Naira Zohrabyan and the member of Bright Armenia party Edmon Marukyan, who acted as guarantors of the release of the deputy head of Shirak State University Anahit Farmanyan, who, however, after being released, immediately left the country.
Spokeswoman for the Special Investigative Service Marina Ohanyan said that the lawmakers who claimed responsibility for Anahit Farmanyan did not fulfill their obligations, as a result of which the accused managed to escape justice.Within the law, materials were prepared, but then the investigator decided, due to the lack of corpus delicti, not to institute criminal proceedings.
To recall, Farmanyan is accused of misappropriation of money illegally collected from university graduates. In particular, according to the investigation, in 2012-2016, the Deputy Head collected money from graduates on the pretext of ordering and issuing diplomas and inserts, although funds for these purposes have already been allocated. A total of 3,529 graduates became victims of deception, and the amount of the illegally appropriated amount amounted to 19,409,500 drams (over 40 thousand dollars). She is indicted on the 1st point of the 3rd part of Article 178 of the RA Criminal Code. Anahit Farmanyan is the sister of the former MP from the previously ruling RPA Samvel Farmanyan.
