ArmInfo. The delegation of the Ministry of Justice of Lithuania, headed by the head of the department Elvinas Jankevicius, is in Armenia. The day before, the delegation was received by the Chairman of the Standing Committee of the National Assembly of the Republic of Armenia on State and Legal Affairs, Vladimir Vardanyan.
According to the press service of the parliament, welcoming the guests, Vladimir Vardanyan noted that Lithuania is one of the important partners of Armenia in the European Union. The chairman of the commission emphasized the importance of developing cooperation between the two countries, in particular in the field of protecting human rights, the rule of law and democracy.
Lithuanian Minister of Justice Elvinas Jankevicius also noted the importance of cooperation in these areas. Vladimir Vardanyan spoke about the reforms that took place after the velvet revolution in Armenia, especially about the planned changes in the judicial sphere, emphasizing the growth of public trust in the system. He also touched on the priorities of the commission and spoke about the upcoming steps. According to the chairman of the commission, the process of development and adoption of a package of reforms of the electoral legislation is planned in the near future.
The meeting was also attended by the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Lithuania to Armenia Inga Stanite-Tolotskieni.
