ArmInfo. Yerevan Mayor Hayk Marutyan denied the rumors and thanked organizations helping the Yerevan Municipality. He refuted the information that allegedly former lawmaker and entrepreneur Samvel Aleksanyan (owner of a chain of supermarkets Yerevan City and Alex- Group) presented Kamaz vehicles to the Yerevan Mayor's Office.
Earlier today, members of the "Luys" faction claimed that businessman Samvel Aleksanyan secretly presented several trucks to the Municipality of Yerevan, with a hint of possible benefits in return for them. Lawmakers expressed bewilderment why the process of donating several cars was secret, in light of the fact that the new government is positioning transparency as an important administrative element.
After the meeting of the Council of Elders, Marutyan, communicating with reporters, thanked all those organizations, that donate to Yerevan. "This is a very important process, Yerevan, of course, has its own budget, but the problems that we have to solve are much more than the funds available in the city budget. Therefore, we need the support of compatriots living in both Armenia and the Diaspora. We are very glad that such people exist", Marutyan said, without naming the names of these organizations and persons, noting that in this sense there are no main and secondary persons for him.
In turn, the press secretary of Yerevan Mayor Hakob Karapetyan also said that information about secret gifts, especially from businessman Samvel Aleksanyan, is untrue, however, if Aleksanyan decides to make such a gift, the Mayor's Office will not refuse such a gesture.
In this context, Karapetyan emphasized that even if any businessman has a desire to present a gift to the capital, he will not receive any benefits for this. He also noted that the names of organizations will be known in the coming days, when the mayor will hand letters of thanks to these companies or individuals.
Karapetyan also said that an agreement had been concluded yesterday on donating several pieces of equipment for recycling paper waste to the Mayor's Office.
