ArmInfo. In Armenia, measures will be taken to organize fishing for whitefish and crayfish on Lake Sevan. The government at a meeting on November 21 approved a draft decision on the organization of fishing on the lake.
According to the Minister of the Environment Eric Grigoryan, the executive body is discussing a similar issue for the first time. The draft government decision provides for an inventory of whitefish and crayfish stocks, to ensure their maintenance and reproduction. In this regard, it is envisaged to establish fishing procedures with a limitation of fishing volumes.
Earlier, Director of the Institute of Hydroecology and Fisheries of the National Academy of Sciences Evelina Ghukasyan noted that fish stocks in Lake Sevan are 2300 tons, 2200 of which are whitefish. The industrial species of whitefish is 554 tons, carp stocks were estimated at 47 tons, and trout species - within 15-17 tons. According to Evelina Ghukasyan, cancer stocks sharply decreased due to the use of unacceptable fishing tools.
