ArmInfo.Armenian President Armen Sarkissian, who is on an official visit to the State of Qatar today in Doha met with Qatari Prime Minister, Interior Minister Sheikh Abdullah bin Nasser bin Khalifa Al Thani.
The Prime Minister and Minister of Internal Affairs of the State of Qatar welcomed the official visit of the President of Armenia, attaching importance to interstate relations with the Republic of Armenia.
In turn, the President of Armenia thanked the Government of Qatar for assisting in opening the Armenian Embassy in Doha, expressing confidence that the presence of the Armenian diplomatic mission will provide a new quality to bilateral relations, while expressing the hope that Qatar will open its embassy in Yerevan in the near future.
The parties agreed that between the two friendly countries there are great opportunities and good foundations for expanding and strengthening bilateral cooperation.
The President noted that Armenia, being a member of the Eurasian Economic Union, has good transit opportunities for entering the markets of other countries, in particular, calling it attractive for cooperation in the areas of construction, real estate, tourism, agriculture and food safety.
Armen Sarkissan also emphasized the great potential for cooperation in the scientific, educational, and technological fields, noting in this context the possibility of cooperation within the framework of the ATOM (Advanced Tomorrow) presidential initiative aimed at developing the latest technologies and science in Armenia. It should be noted that on the occasion of the opening of the Armenian Embassy in Doha, Armen Sarkissian and his wife Nune Sarkissian met with representatives of the Armenian community of Qatar, calling them proud citizens of the Republic of Armenia. <I had the opportunity to visit the Qatar Foundation, to meet with its founder. This place is magnificent and impressive. This small country is aware of the importance of education, culture, science and is looking to the future. For us, this is, in a sense, an example of a good and friendly rival, because in the 21st century we must also contribute not only to the development of our country, but also to world culture, to the development of science and new technologies, since this is the future>, the president said. Sarkissian noted that the current changes in the world pose problems for all countries, but each difficulty is also an opportunity for those nations that are able to concentrate, unite and have a clear program for moving forward.
