ArmInfo. The National Assembly of Armenia at its meeting on November 18 began discussions on the candidacy of members of the commission on the prevention of corruption.
Five candidates have been submitted to Parliament - one each from the government, three parliamentary factions and the Supreme Judicial Council. The government of the country proposed the candidacy of 28- year-old Lilit Aleksanyan, who is currently the chief business control specialist at HSBC Bank, as a member of the commission. My Step faction submitted the candidacy of YSU Constitutional Law Chair, 39-year-old Edgar Shatiryan, Prosperous Armenia faction - 35-year-old lawyer Narek Hambartsumyan, who until 2018 worked in the Office for Particularly Important Cases of the Armenian Investigative Committee, being an investigator corruption crimes. Since 2018, to this day, he has been the Deputy Director for Finance of LLC Glange-Alco. Enlightened Armenia faction nominated 38-year-old Haykui Harutyunyan as her candidate for lawyer, chairman of the Defense Without Borders public organization. And the Supreme Judicial Council nominated Aramais Pashinyan, the financial director of the Jinishyan Foundation, as a candidate member of the commission on the prevention of corruption.
The Corruption Prevention Commission was established in 2019. The new structure will not investigate corruption crimes - it is entrusted with fulfilling preventive and educational functions. Also, members of the commission will analyze the data of income declarations of officials.
