ArmInfo. On November 15, the ARF-D youth wing wrote to the "Prosperous Armenia" and "Bright Armenia" factions with a proposal to initiate the process of resignation of Arayik Harutyunyan from the post of Minister of Education, Science, Culture and Sports of the Republic of Armenia.
To recall, the ministry took the initiative to exclude the Armenian language, literature and history of Armenia from the list of compulsory disciplines in universities. Earlier in Yerevan, some YSU students and ARF representatives held pickets and protests against this.
Meanwhile, the ministry explained that according to the working draft law "On Higher Education and Science", each university has the right to decide independently whether it is necessary to include Armenian discipline in the curriculum of non-core faculties. Yesterday, Parliament Speaker Ararat Mirzoyan noted that the protests demanding the resignation of Arayik Harutyunyan have a political connotation, and people directly connected with some political forces participate in them.
