ArmInfo. Once again, the  Presidents of the United States and Turkey managed to conclude a  mutually beneficial deal, as a result of which the national interests  of Armenia and those minorities that, one way or another, are facing  Turkish aggression, have suffered.  Director of the Institute of  Oriental Studies of NAS RA, orientalist Ruben Safrastyan stated this  at a meeting with reporters.

The expert noted that the blocking of the vote in the upper house of  the US Congress on the draft resolution on the Armenian Genocide was  expected, calling it a coincidence that Trump and Erdogan attended  one of Senators Lindsey Graham, close to Trump's circle, who vetoed  the resolution on recognition of the Armenian Genocide Senate.

According to Safrastyan, not only the Armenian structures of America,  but also explanatory work at the state level should work to cancel  the veto.  Touching upon Erdogan's speech at a religious center in  Maryland, Safrastyan stated that the Turkish leader insolently not  only distorted the fact of the Genocide, but also falsified the  history of the Armenian people.

- the expert  drew attention.

Speaking about the killing of Armenian clergy in the Syrian city of  Camishli, Safrastyan expressed confidence that the crime was  completely militants of the Islamic State controlled by Turkey, and  had a specific goal - to create an environment of fear in the  Armenian community, which is the largest in the region.
