ArmInfo. The protests demanding the resignation of RA Minister of Education, Science, Culture and Sports Arayik Harutyunyan are mainly due to political considerations. Speaker of the Armenian parliament Ararat Mirzoyan stated this to reporters on November 14. <I support his policy on reforming the education system. Our points are the same. There are no grounds for his resignation,> he noted.
Mirzoyan drew attention to the fact that among the protesters there are people with an obvious party and political orientation. "Their demands for the resignation of the minister are mainly due to political considerations," the speaker emphasized.
To recall, the ministerial initiative, according to which the Armenian language, literature, and history of Armenia will not be included in the list of compulsory disciplines in the curriculum of universities, has become the "bone of contention". In this regard, for several days in the capital, a group of students boycotts classes and holds a picket near the building of the ministry.
Earlier, Arayik Harutyunyan openly stated that ARF-D is behind these protests. Recalling that the members of "Dashnaktsutyun" over the years led the Ministry of Education and Science, he reported on the presence of a number of criminal cases indicating a low level of coordination of the educational sphere in the noted period. This statement was criticized by a member of the ARF Supreme Council Artsvik Minasyan, noting that he was not afraid of the minister's words about the existence of criminal cases.
