ArmInfo. The winter draft for mandatory service of rank and file in Armenia will begin on November 14, 2019 and end on January 31, 2020. The corresponding draft decision was adopted at a government meeting on November 7.
According to the Deputy Minister of Defense of Gabriel Balayan, presenting the draft decision, the draft provides for the call itself to start this year a little earlier - from December 16, given that in the first ten days of January the process is almost suspended due to non-working days. Preparatory work for the draft will start on November 14.
The draft decision establishes the composition of the Republican draft commission, as well as the individual composition of the Central Medical Commission. The latter, as Balayan pointed out, will be chaired not by the chief military commissioner for the republic, but by the deputy minister of health. According to the decision, in November 2019 - January 2020, a winter call is announced for the mandatory military and alternative service of those male citizens of the Republic of Armenia who are 18 years old until December 31, 2018 inclusive, as well as those citizens who have lost their previous right to defer from conscription to compulsory military service. The decision also provides for the demobilization of military personnel who have completed mandatory military and alternative service on time by January 31, 2020.
