According to the office of the third president of Armenia, the meeting was held at the request of the American diplomat. According to the source, during the meeting, which was also attended by representatives of the executive body of the RPA and the US embassy, Lynn Tracy noted that she appreciates the many years of relations between the US embassy and the political parties of Armenia, including the RPA. "The United States remains committed to supporting democratic, economic and social governance in Armenia, as it was during the 27 years of our diplomatic relations," the diplomat said.
During the meeting, the US ambassador asked Serzh Sargsyan about the upcoming programs and activities of the RPA and assured that from now on such meetings would be held periodically. At the ambassador's request, Serzh Sargsyan presented the political situation in Armenia, the RPA's concern and position on this issue, touched upon problems and challenges in the field of economy and security, the current situation in the negotiation process on the Karabakh settlement, as well as the prospects for the development of Armenian-American relations. Taking the opportunity, the RPA head expressed gratitude in connection with the adoption by the House of Representatives of a resolution on the recognition of the Armenian Genocide. "The real democratization of Armenia has no alternative. We have been working in this direction for many years, at the same time building mutually beneficial partnerships, including with the USA. Real democracy has become a response to populism, which has become a serious challenge for many countries of the world. For our party, priority will remain the security of Armenia and Artsakh, as well as issues of stability and peace in the region>, said Serzh Sargsyan.
