ArmInfo. State Duma Speaker Vyacheslav Volodin re-elected Chairman of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Collective Security Treaty Organization (CSTO PA) for the next three years. Such a decision was made during the plenary meeting of the assembly, which takes place on Tuesday, November 5, at the Ministry of Defense of Armenia.
Speaking at the meeting, Volodin in particular thanked his colleagues for their support: <Thanks for the support. I hope that we will continue to work and will do everything to ensure that the CSTO parliamentary assembly works efficiently, so that on the basis of dialogue we work out decisions primarily on harmonization of legislation and its implementation in the national laws of our countries in order to more effectively counter today's challenges. Solving a number of issues related to global and economic security, countering terrorism, drug trafficking, I hope for your support.
Given that, within the framework of the Council, we discussed a number of issues that also require optimization of the work of the PA CSTO; the next meeting of the Council to think about how we will build work, given the challenges of the modern day, because since the creation of the PA, Having once adopted a structure, we did not change it. Today it would be right to look at these issues, proceeding again from today's challenges, so that the work of the commission, its structure and functionality will be more effective. It is extremely important for us that each CSTO member country, within the framework of the parliamentary dimension, can make its contribution and work more efficiently. Our task is for our colleagues from the parliaments of the member countries of the CSTO PA to be able to realize themselves by solving the tasks that our states face in the framework of collective security, "Volodin said after being re-elected as chairman.
The CSTO Parliamentary Assembly was established in 2006. Volodin was elected chairman of the assembly in 2016 for a three-year term. The Collective Security Treaty Organization includes Armenia, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Russia and Tajikistan.
