ArmInfo.The Armenian Defense Ministry blames the enemy for the aggravating situation on the Armenian-Azerbaijani state border.
"The Azerbaijani side against the background of the meeting of the Council of CIS Defense Ministers in Baku obviously goes on provocations, exacerbating the situation on the state border with Armenia. We urge the Azerbaijani side to refrain from provocations. For our part, we note that the provocations will not remain unanswered after the meeting ", said the press secretary of the Ministry of Defense of Armenia Artsrun Hovhannisyan on his Facebook page.
To note, a meeting of the Council of Defense Ministers of the CIS countries is being held in Baku today. As already officially stated in the Armenian Defense Department, Armenia will not take part in the work of the council.
The event is attended by Minister of Defense of Azerbaijan Zakir Hasanov, Minister of Defense of Russia Sergey Shoigu, Minister of Defense of Belarus Andrei Ravkov, Minister of Defense of Kazakhstan Nurlan Yermekbayev, Minister of Defense of Uzbekistan Bakhodir Kurbanov, Minister of Defense of Tajikistan Mirzo Sherali and Chief of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Kyrgyzstan, Rayimberdi Duishenbiyev.
At the meeting of Council of CIS Defense Ministers, it is planned to consider a range of issues of multilateral cooperation of the Commonwealth states in the military sector.
Key attention at the meeting will be given to the Concept of Military Cooperation of the CIS Member States until 2025. The draft Concept is aimed at achieving a new level of cooperation in the military sector, reflects the national interests and joint priorities of the Commonwealth states in the field of ensuring security and countering modern challenges and threats.
In addition, issues of training officers for the armed forces of the member states of the Commonwealth of Independent States, on joint activities for the 75th anniversary of the Victory in the Great Patriotic War of 1941-1945, and other important areas in the field of military cooperation will be considered.
During the joint work, the heads of defense departments will analyze the state of development of military cooperation, outline joint activities for the next year and the near future, and consider other issues of partnership in the defense and security sector in the CIS.
