ArmInfo. Bulgaria stands for peaceful settlement of frozen conflicts. The Minister of Foreign Affairs of Bulgaria Ekaterina Zakharieva announced this on October 28 at a joint press conference with the Armenian Foreign Minister Zohrab Mnatsakanyan.
Thus, answering a question about the prospects of Azerbaijani gas supplies to Bulgaria through the IGB (Gas Interconnector Greece-Bulgaria), the Bulgarian Minister stated that this is an important project for Sofia. "We would like this project on the import of Azerbaijani gas to be successfully completed. We have good relations with Azerbaijan, also good relations with Armenia. I would like to recall that stability and peaceful settlement of frozen conflicts are among the priorities of the European Union," Zakharieva said, adding that the basis of the negotiations under the auspices of the OSCE Minsk Group should be a peaceful dialogue.
According to her, Bulgaria will be happy to see a peaceful resolution to the conflict (Nagorno-Karabakh conflict - Ed. note), which in turn will allow Armenia to get rid of the economic blockade.
She reiterated that Bulgaria proceeds from the premise that the conflict should be resolved through peaceful dialogue and under the auspices of the OSCE, and the EU is ready to assist this process.
It should be noted that the IGB gas pipeline will allow Bulgaria to receive Azerbaijani gas, including gas produced at the Shah Deniz gas and condensate field. The IGB will be connected to TAP, through which gas from Shah Deniz-2 will be delivered to European markets. The initial capacity of IGB is 3 billion cubic meters of gas per year.
