Tigran Avinyan: The government is determined to reform the sector of  criminal punishment

ArmInfo.New realities formed as a result of the velvet revolution have opened a new page that is full of new ideas and new principles. Armenian Deputy Prime Minister  Tigran Avinyan stated this in his speech at the event dedicated to  the 100th anniversary of the penitentiary service on October 21.

Addressing the employees of the penitentiary institution, Avinyan  noted in his word: "Taking as a basis your service to the Republic of  Armenia and your role in the life of society, it is already the  second year since the professional holiday of the penitentiary system  employees is solemnly celebrated on the basis of the government's  decision. It is obvious that the celebration of a professional day on  the calendar is a high and binding assessment in such a complex and  important work. Solving the responsible and complex tasks facing the  penitentiary service plays an important role in the nation-building  process of our country>, he said.

According to the Deputy Prime Minister, the government is determined  to reform the sector of criminal punishment, to rethink the ideology  of resocialization, the full functioning of the principles of  restorative justice.

<The government is focusing on the existing problems in the penal  system, and is gradually starting to solve it. The social security of  the penitentiary system employees and the consistent improvement of  effective safeguards are also in the focus of our attention>, the  Armenian Deputy Prime Minister assured.
